Parma verfügt über eine altehrwürdige, nach einer mittelalterlichen italienischen Tradition den sogenannten zugehörende Universität und den internationalen Flughafen Aeroporto di Parma Giuseppe Verdi. Es liegt verkehrsgünstig an einer der Hauptautobahnen Italiens, der A1, die von Mailand über Rom bis Kalabrien verläuft.
