Peter Crane

Peter Crane is a British curator, botanist, paleontologist, and geologist born in Kettering in 1954. He works in the fields of botany and paleobotany. Crane has been employed by Yale University, the University of Chicago, Kew Gardens, and the Field Museum of Natural History. He received his education at the University of Reading and speaks English.

He is a member of the Royal Society, the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and the National Academy of Sciences. His awards include being a Knight Bachelor, a Fellow of the Royal Society, the International Prize for Biology, and the Bicentenary Medal of the Linnean Society. His work is held in collections at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin, Harvard University Herbaria, and the Natural History Museum.
