Inom arkitektur betecknar proportion förhållandet mellan olika volymer, ytor eller delen och helheten. I arkitekturen är alltid kroppen utgångspunkten för all proportionering. Den romerske arkitekten och arkitekturteoretikern Vitruvius formulerade de arkitektoniska proportionerna utifrån människokroppen uppbyggnad.
