Lag BaOmer (Hebrew: לַ״ג בָּעוֹמֶר, LaG Bāʿōmer lit. '"33rd [day] in the Omer"'), also Lag B'Omer or Lag LaOmer, is a Jewish religious holiday celebrated on the 33rd day of the Counting of the Omer, which occurs on the 18th day of the Hebrew month of Iyar.
According to the Rishonim, the plague that killed 24,000 of Rabbi Akiva's students ended on Lag Baomer. For some communities, the mourning period of the Counting of the Omer thus concludes on Lag BaOmer.
