Reginald Pole

Reginald Pole was a Catholic priest, bishop, archbishop, and diplomat from the Kingdom of England. Born in Staffordshire on March 3, 1500, he was the son of Sir Richard Pole and Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury. He had siblings including Ursula Pole, Arthur Pole, Henry Pole, 1st Baron Montagu, and Geoffrey Pole. Pole was educated at Magdalen College and the University of Padua. He held the position of cardinal and was described by sources such as the Granat Encyclopedic Dictionary and the Encyclopædia Britannica 11th edition.

He died in London on November 17, 1558, from influenza due to natural causes. He was buried in Canterbury Cathedral. Pole wrote works including *Discorso di pace di mons. Reginaldo Polo cardinale legato a Carlo. V. imperatore, et Henrico. II. re di Francia*, *Discorso intorno alle cose della gverra*, and *Testamentvm vere christianvm*. He is also associated with *Reginaldi Poli Cardinalis Britanni ad Henricu[m] Octauum Britanniae regem Pro ecclesiasticae unitatis defensione*. He spoke English.
