Robert Tressell (17 April 1870 – 3 February 1911) was the pseudonym of Robert Noonan (born Robert Croker), an Irish writer best known for his novel "The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists". Robert Tressell was born in Dublin, in Ireland (at the time, part of the United Kingdom). He was the illegitimate son of Samuel Croker, a senior member of the Royal Irish Constabulary.
