Ron Block was born Ronald Franklin Block in 1964 in Inglewood, California. He received his first guitar at 11 and first became interested in banjo at 13 after seeing Lester Flatt play on television. His interest in guitars and singing grew after seeing The Stanley Brothers and Larry Sparks.
