سیمون کوزنتس

Simon Kuznets was a male economist and statistician born in Pinsk in 1901. He held citizenship in the Russian Empire and the United States. Kuznets was educated at Columbia University and served as a doctoral student under Wesley Clair Mitchell. His professional career included positions at Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Pennsylvania, where he held the position of chairperson. He was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Philosophical Society, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Kuznets received the Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. He was interested in economics and spoke English. His notable works include *Economic structure and life of the Jews*, *Wesen und Bedeutung des Trends*, *Income distribution and changes in consumption*, *Inequality in the size distribution of households*, and *Size of households and income disparities*. He stated that "The welfare of a nation can scarcely be inferred from a measurement of national income." Kuznets died in Cambridge in 1985. He was the doctoral advisor to Milton Friedman, Richard Easterlin, Stanley Engerman, and Robert Fogel.
