Simosuchus
Sign in to saveSimosuchus is an extinct genus of notosuchian crocodyliforms from the Late Cretaceous of Madagascar. It is named for its unusually short skull. Fully grown individuals were about in length. The type species is Simosuchus clarki, found from the Maevarano Formation in Mahajanga Province, although one isolated multicuspid tooth of this genus was discovered in Kallamedu Formation of India.

Simosuchus es un género extinto de cocodrilomorfos notosuquios del Cretácico Superior de Madagascar. Se le ha apodado "cocodrilo nariz de pug" por su cráneo inusualmente corto. Los individuos adultos habrían medido 1 metro en longitud, aproximadamente. Los dientes de S. clarki tenían forma de clavos que se juntaban en su hocico corto, rasgos inadecuados para un carnívoro. De hecho, estas características han llevado a algunos palaeontólogos a creer que era un omnívoro terrestre.
