Thaxterogaster is a genus of fungi in the family Cortinariaceae.
== Taxonomy == The genus was created in 1951 by the German mycologist Rolf Singer to contain the novel species Thaxterogaster magellanicus and Thaxterogaster violaceum. Several other species were placed in this genus in the subsequent decades but then reclassified as Cortinarius or Descolea species.
