Trichocentrum

It was described by Stephan Ladislaus Endlicher and Eduard Friedrich Poeppig in 1836. This genus alone makes up the monogeneric Trichocentrum alliance, a quite distinct lineage of the subtribe Oncidiinae.

Трихоцентрум (лат. Trichocentrum) — род многолетних трявянистых растений из семейства Орхидные, или Ятрышниковые (Orchidaceae). Аббревиатура родового названия — Trt. Включает около 70 видов распространенных в Центральной и Южной Америке. Большая часть видов эпифиты, некоторые полуэпифиты и литофиты. Охраняемые растения. Все виды рода входят во второе приложение CITES. Некоторые представители рода и гибриды с их участием популярны в комнатном и оранжерейном цветоводстве, а также широко представлены в ботанических садах. Род не имеет устоявшегося русского названия, в русскоязычных источниках обычно используется устаревшее научное название Trichocentrum.

This genus alone makes up the monogeneric Trichocentrum alliance, a quite distinct lineage of the subtribe Oncidiinae.
In 2024, Trichocentrum was expanded to include the genera Grandiphyllum and Saundersia, with the latter two synonymized.
