Písemně doložená historie obce sahá do roku 1282 (a možná i dále do minulosti) – do dob Oneše z Tršic, pokračuje rozvojem a povýšením na městečko v roce 1526 za Jiřího Žabky z Limberka, až do dnešních dnů.
