Tendo sua nascente em Saint-Paul-en-Gâtine, em Deux-Sèvres, atravessa a vila de Fontenay-le-Comte, e conflui com o rio Sèvre Niortaise em , próximo de Marans. Tem 81,7 km de comprimento.
