The Belgian (Walloon) composer Victor Vreuls (1876-1944) was born in Verviers, the 'water capital' of Wallonia. He studied at the local music school and later at the Schola Cantorum in Paris under Vincent d'Indy. He later taught harmony there and subsequently at the Luxembourg Conservatory, where he became director. As a local musical celebrity, Vreuls seems to have been overshadowed by Guillaume Lekeu and Henri Vieuxtemps, also born in or around Verviers <a href="https://www.last.fm/music/Victo
