Viktor Savinykh

Viktor Savinykh is a male Soviet and Russian astronaut, writer, politician, and aerospace engineer. Born on March 7, 1940, he was educated at the Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography, where he later served as rector. He is a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and holds citizenship in both the Soviet Union and Russia. His professional work spans astronautics, politics, and space exploration.

Savinykh was a crew member of the Soyuz T-4, Soyuz T-13, Soyuz TM-5, and Soyuz T-14 missions. He spent 363,938 units of time in space. His employers include the S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia and the Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography. He has received the USSR State Prize, the Order of Lenin, the Order of Honour, and the title Hero of the Soviet Union. He speaks Russian and is recognized in the Astronauts collection.
