Wild Planet started out as a duo back in 1991 consisting of Simon J. Hartley and Richie Brook, while with Warp Records. Since then, Hartley is now the sole member. Simon J. Hartley's music is a mix of the finest Detroit elements mixed with the harder sounds of Germany. Wild Planet have released an extensive catalogue of material on various labels, up to the present: Warp Records, 430 West, Fnac and BPitch Control Records, to name but a few. There are also releases on Simon Hartley's own Imprint

Wild Planet är new wave-bandet The B-52's andra studioalbum. Det lanserades 1980. Skivan innehöll till stor del låtar som valts bort från deras debutalbum. Den mest kända låten på skivan är "Private Idaho" som också släpptes som singel. Albumet blev mer framgångsrikt kommersiellt sett än gruppens debutalbum.
