Yves Meyer

Yves Meyer is a French mathematician, born on 19 July 1939 in Paris. He studied at the École Normale Supérieure, the University of Strasbourg and the Carnot high school in Tunis, and was a student of Jean-Pierre Kahane, who was also his doctoral advisor. He worked in mathematics and applied mathematics, with an interest in wavelets, and held positions at Paris Dauphine University, the École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay, the Prytanée National Militaire and the University of Strasbourg.

He was a member of the French Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Mathematical Society, and his own doctoral student was Albert Cohen. He received the Salem Prize, the Abel Prize, the Carl Friedrich Gauss Prize and the Concours général. His sibling is Jean Meyer, and his Erdős number is 2.
