Anne Carson

Anne Carson is a Canadian classical philologist, poet, translator, and professor. Born in Toronto in 1950, she has resided in New York City. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and has been educated at the University of Toronto and the University of St. Michael's College. Her professional career includes positions at Princeton University, McGill University, and the University of Michigan.

Carson’s notable works include *Autobiography of Red*. She has received the Guggenheim Fellowship, the MacArthur Fellows Program award, the Princess of Asturias Literary Prize, and the Griffin Poetry Prize. She writes in English and speaks Ancient Greek. Her work has been influenced by Virginia Woolf. Additional publications include *Glasessayet*, *American wild*, *Wonderwater (Alice Offshore)*, *Looking Writing Reading Looking*, and *If Not, Winter*.
