It was named by K.A Adesiyan and was later recognised as a Local Government Area in Okeogun, Oyo State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Tede. Atisbo local Government, which is erroneously spelt as ATIGBO by many online pages, was created by former Head of State Sanni Abacha in 1996.
