Badakhshan is a historical region in the Pamir Mountains of southern Central Asia, comprising the Wakhan Corridor in the Badakhshan Province of northeast Afghanistan, the Gorno-Badakhshan autonomous region in eastern Tajikistan, and the Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of Northwestern China.
