Benjamin Rush (Filadelfia, 4 gennaio 1746 – 19 aprile 1813) è stato uno dei padri fondatori degli Stati Uniti, esponente politico di Filadelfia e medico. È stato un riformatore sociale, filantropo ed educatore. Rush ha partecipato al Congresso continentale ed è stato uno dei firmatari della Dichiarazione d'indipendenza degli Stati Uniti d'America il 2 Luglio 1776. Ha svolto il ruolo di Chirurgo Generale dell'Esercito continentale, formato il 14 Giugno 1775 dopo la Guerra d'indipendenza americana. È stato inoltre docente di chimica, teoria e pratica clinica presso l’Università della Pennsylvania.
