The rural communities of Nurnus and Arzni form the northern and southern borders of the town, respectively. As of the 2011 census, the population of the town is 9,513. As per the 2016 official estimate, Byureghavan has a population of around 8,300. As of the 2022 census, the town had a population of 10,432.
