Drimys
Sign in to saveDrimys is a genus of seven species of woody evergreen flowering plants, in the family Winteraceae. The species are native to the Neotropics, ranging from southern Mexico to the southern tip of South America. They are primitive dicots, associated with the humid temperate Antarctic flora of the Southern Hemisphere, which evolved millions of years ago on the ancient supercontinent of Gondwana. Members of the family generally have aromatic bark and leaves, and some are used to extract essential oils.

Drimys es un género de alrededor de ocho especies de plantas perennes en la familia Winteraceae. Las especies son nativas de América, desde el sur de México hasta el extremo austral de América del Sur. Las winteráceas son plantas primitivas asociadas con la flora Antártica de la zona húmeda del hemisferio sur, las cuales evolucionaron desde hace millones de años desde el antiguo supercontinente de Gondwana. Miembros de la familia tienen hojas aromáticas y algunas son usadas para la obtención de aceites esenciales.
