Eulepidoptera represents a major clade within the infraorder Heteroneura, encompassing the vast majority of moth and butterfly species. It includes both primitive lineages such as Incurvariina and Etimonotrysia, as well as the highly diverse Ditrysia, which alone accounts for approximately 98% of all described Lepidoptera species. Etimonotrysia Palaephatoidea Tischerioidea Ditrysia Monofiletyzm Eulepidoptera jest silnie wspierany w analizach morfologicznych i molekularnych. Zarówno analiza morfologiczna Kristensena z 2003 roku[2] jak i genetyczne Mutanena i innych z 2010[4] oraz Reigera i innych z 2015 roku wspierają podział Eulepidoptera na dwa klady: pierwszy obejmuje Andesianoidea i Adeloidea, a drugi Palaephatidae, tyszerkowate i Ditrysia[3]. Pierwszy określany jest jako Incurvariina[1]. Drugi dzieli się na dwie grupy siostrzane: Ditrysia i Etimonotrysia (Palaephatoidea+Tischerioidea)[1][3][4]. W 2009 roku Simonsen zwrócił jednak uwagę na cechy pokrycia skrzydeł, które mogą być synapomorfią łączącą Andesianoidea z tyszerkowatymi i Ditrysia[5]. Reigerowi i współpracownikom nie udało się całkowicie wykluczyć możliwości, że Andesianoidea są grupą siostrzaną dla Ditrysia+Palaephatoidea+Tischerioidea, a nie dla Adeloidea[3].
