Die Große Kreisstadt Flöha ist eine sächsische Kleinstadt im Landkreis Mittelsachsen. Nach der ersten urkundlichen Erwähnung im Jahr 1346 entwickelte sich das Gebiet am nördlichen Rand des Erzgebirges am Zusammenfluss der Flüsse Flöha und Zschopau mit dem Einsetzen der Industrialisierung im 19. Jahrhundert zu einer Industriegemeinde, welche am 8. November 1933 zur Stadt erhoben wurde. Das heutige Stadtgebiet des unmittelbar an die Großstadt Chemnitz angrenzenden Unterzentrums ging aus Gemeindezusammenschlüssen in den Jahren 1920 und 1962 hervor.
