Gerd Seifert (born October 17th 1931 in Hamburg ) is a German horn player. Gerd Seifert began to play the horn at the age of twelve. At the age of 15 he was already playing at the Hamburg State Opera. At 17 he became principal horn at the Municipal Orchestra Dusseldorf. In 1956 he won first prize at the International Music Competition in Munich (ARD). He also taught at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Dusseldorf. From 1964 to 1996, Seifert was principal horn with the Berlin Philharmonic. <
