Göran Wahlenberg

Göran Wahlenberg (1780–1851) was a Swedish botanist, mycologist, university teacher, and draftsperson. He was educated at and employed by Uppsala University. Wahlenberg was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences. His professional output included eleven works, such as *Flora Svecica enumerans plantas Sveciæ indigenas*, *Georgii Wahlenberg Flora Lapponica*, *Flora Upsaliensis*, and *Georgii Wahlenberg Flora Carpatorum*.

He spoke Latin and Swedish. His specimens are held in collections at the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin, the University of Graz, the Natural History Museum in Vienna, and Charles University. Wahlenberg is described in the *Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary* and the *Dictionary of Swedish National Biography*. He was buried in Uppsala Old Cemetery.
