Igor' Fëdorovič Stravinskij, anglicizzato e francesizzato in Igor Stravinsky (in russo: Игорь Фёдорович Стравинский?; Lomonosov, 17 giugno 1882 – New York, 6 aprile 1971), è stato un compositore e direttore d'orchestra russo naturalizzato francese nel 1934, poi divenuto statunitense nel 1945. La maggior parte dei suoi lavori rientra nell'ambito del neoclassicismo prima e della serialità poi, ma la sua popolarità presso il grande pubblico si deve ai tre balletti composti durante il suo primo periodo e creati in collaborazione con i Balletti russi: L'uccello di fuoco (1910), Petruška (1911) e La sagra della primavera (1913), opere che reinventarono il genere musicale del balletto. Stravinskij scrisse per ogni tipo di organico, spesso riutilizzando forme classiche. La sua opera omnia include composizioni d'ogni genere, dalle sinfonie alle miniature strumentali. Ottenne anche grande fama come pianista e direttore d'orchestra, dirigendo spesso le prime delle sue composizioni. Scrisse un'autobiografia, Chroniques de ma vie, e un saggio teorico che racchiude una serie di lezioni tenute presso l'Università di Harvard nell'anno accademico 1939-1940 intitolato Poetica della musica.
