Sub-divided into the five trade fair segments Railway Technology, Railway Infrastructure, Public Transport, Interiors and Tunnel Construction, InnoTrans occupies all 42 halls available at Berlin Exhibition Grounds. The InnoTrans Convention, the event’s top-level supporting programme, complements the trade fair and will be streamed live. A unique feature of InnoTrans is its outdoor and track display area, where everything from tank wagons to high-speed trains are displayed on 3,500 metres of track. InnoTrans offers vehicle manufacturers the possibility to demonstrate buses on a static Bus Display area and the adjacent Demonstration Course. The fifteenth InnoTrans will take place from 22 to 25 September 2026. With 2,946 exhibitors from 59 countries in 2024 InnoTrans is the industry’s leading international trade fair, occupying all of the Berlin exhibition grounds. 169,214 visitors from 128 countries filled the 42 exhibition halls, the Outdoor Display and track area as well as the Bus Display at InnoTrans 2024.

InnoTrans is the world's largest trade fair focused on the rail transport industry. It is held every two years at the Messe Berlin exhibition centre, which has outdoor standard gauge railway sidings which can be used to exhibit railway vehicles. Until 2016, there were public days at the weekend to view rolling stock on display, which were accompanied by an entertainment programme. These public days have not been held since InnoTrans 2018, officially due to a lack of space and insufficient logistical options.
