In Greek mythology, Ixion ( ; ) was king of the Lapiths, the most ancient tribe of Thessaly. Ixion desired Hera, the queen of the gods and wife of Zeus, and his arrogant attempt to sleep with her led to his eternal punishment in Tartarus.
