Justinus Kerner

Justinus Andreas Christian Kerner was a poet, physician, writer, and scientist born in 1786 in Ludwigsburg. He held a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Tübingen and worked in Ludwigsburg, Maulbronn, Tübingen, and Bad Wildbad. A citizen of the Duchy and later Kingdom of Württemberg, he wrote in German. His career began in 1810.

Kerner is known for works such as *Die Seherin von Prevorst*, *Die Dichtungen*, *Verehrte Freundin! Wo sind Sie?*, and *Das mährchen von Iwan Zarewitsch & dem grauen wolf*. He received the Bavarian Maximilian Order for Science and Art. He was associated with Franz Anton Mesmer. Kerner died in Weinsberg in 1862. His archives are held at the German Literature Archive Marbach, and his works are in the collection of the ZKM Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe.
