Der Kohnstein ist ein 334,9 m ü. NHN hoher Berg im Sulfatkarst des südlichen Harzvorlandes nahe Nordhausen im Landkreis Nordhausen in Thüringen. Im Berg entstand durch den Gesteinsabbau ein umfangreiches Stollensystem, das während des Zweiten Weltkriegs durch Häftlinge des nahen KZ Mittelbau-Dora zur Produktionsstätte Mittelwerk für Rüstungsgüter umgebaut und erheblich erweitert wurde.
