Leonid Kravchuk

Leonid Kravchuk (1934–2022) was a Ukrainian politician, economist, and film actor. Born in Velykyi Zhytyn, he held the positions of President of Ukraine, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, and People's Deputy of Ukraine. He was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, the Communist Party of Ukraine, and the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united). Kravchuk served on the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the State Council of the Soviet Union. He was educated at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Kravchuk was a candidate in the 1991 Ukrainian presidential election. He spoke Russian and Ukrainian, with Ukrainian as his native language. His religious affiliations included the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kyiv Patriarchate and Eastern Orthodoxy. He was married to Antonina Kravchuk. Among his works is the book *Ostanni dni imperiyi - pershi roky nadiyi*. He died in Munich.
