Ludovic Vitet

Ludovic Vitet, born Louis Vitet on October 18, 1802, in Paris, was a French politician, architect, writer, and playwright. He wrote in French and was a native speaker of Portuguese. His professional work was centered in Paris, and he contributed to publications including Le Globe, Revue des Deux Mondes, and Journal des savants.

Vitet was a member of the Académie Française, the German Archaeological Institute, the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres, and the Société de l’histoire de France. He received the award of Officer of the Legion of Honour. His notable works include Histoire financière du gouvernement de juillet, Les états d'Orléans, Monographie de l'église Notre-Dame de Noyon, Les États de Blois, and Les barricades, scènes historiques, mai 1588. He died on June 5, 1873, in Versailles and is buried at Montmartre Cemetery.
