Mark Jansen, (born December 15, 1978 in Netherlands), is a heavy metal musician. In 1995 Mark founded Apocalypse with Sander Gommans (which later renamed After Forever), and was one of the main songwriters since their debut album Prison of Desire. He left After Forever in 2002, and after he left the band took a new musical direction. Mark started a new symphonic metal band called Sahara Dust, which was later renamed Epica.
