Max Tegmark, born Max Shapiro on 5 May 1967 in Stockholm, is a physicist, astronomer, astrophysicist, and cosmologist. He holds citizenship in Sweden and the United States and serves as a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His academic background includes studies at the Royal Institute of Technology, the Stockholm School of Economics, and the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy. He speaks English and Swedish.
