Master of the Late Gothic, teacher of Albrecht Durer. Wolgemut belongs to the tradition of the Netherland masters, without reaching their depth. In1473 he took over a well-equipped workshop by marrying the widow of Hans Pleydenwurff. His œuvre must not be underestimated, on the one hand: his influence as a graphic artist being a contributor to Schedel´s world chronicle can be traced as far as to Spain, on the other hand the tribute that Durer paid to his teacher gives evidence of Wolgemut´s artistic qualities.
