Pete St. John (born Peter Mooney in Dublin in 1932; died 12 March 2022) was an Irish folk singer-songwriter best remembered for composing "The Fields of Athenry" (a popular anthem for Irish sports supporters). As well as "The Fields of Athenry", St. John composed a number of other modern ballads, such as "The Rare Ould Times" and "The Ferryman", which have been recorded by several artists, including The Dubliners, James Last, Paddy Reilly, and Mary Black. <a href="https://www.last.fm/music/Pe
