Sign in to saveThe Similaun () is a mountain in the Schnalskamm group of the Ötztal Alps. It is on the Austrian-Italian border. At 3,599 m, it is Austria's sixth highest summit. It was first ascended in 1834 by Josef Raffeiner and Theodor Kaserer. It is most famous for being the mountain on whose slopes Helmut Simon and Erika Simon discovered Ötzi the Iceman in 1991.

Симилаун — гора высотой около 3600 метров в Альпах на австрийско-итальянской границе. Гора особенно известна как место открытия Этци. Рельеф вокруг Симилаун гористый на юге, но на севере холмистый. Самая высокая точка находится на высоте 3591 метр над уровнем моря. Ближайшее крупное поселение — Обергургль, в 16 км к северо-востоку от Симилаун. Территория вокруг Симилаун состоит в основном из лугов.
