Ted Kennedy

Ted Kennedy (1932–2009) was an American politician, lawyer, autobiographer, and jurist. Born in Dorchester to Rose Kennedy and Joseph P. Kennedy Sr., he served as a district attorney and United States senator. A member of the Democratic Party, he was educated at Harvard College, the University of Virginia School of Law, and The Hague Academy of International Law. He was also a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Kennedy was married to Joan Bennett Kennedy and Victoria Reggie Kennedy. They had three children: Kara Kennedy, Edward M. Kennedy Jr., and Patrick J. Kennedy. He authored the work *Who Is Worthy*. His awards included the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire, the Profile in Courage Award, and the Nansen Refugee Award. He died in Barnstable, Hyannis Port, from a brain tumor and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
