Tribsees () is a municipality in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in north-eastern Germany. It is situated southwest of Stralsund, and east of Rostock.
==Etymology== The name may come from the Slavic word "treb" or "trebez" (Polish: "trzebiez") in the meaning of clearing. According to another version, the name came from a Slavic tribe (Tribeden) that inhabited the area in the early Middle Ages.
