The University of Miami (UM, UMiami, Miami, U of M, and The U) is a private research university in Coral Gables, Florida, United States. As of 2025, the university enrolled 20,104 students in two colleges and eight schools across over 350 academic majors and programs, including the Miller School of Medicine in Miami's Health District, the law school on the main campus, the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science on Virginia Key, and additional research facilities in southern Miami-Dade County.

With over 21,000 faculty and staff as of 2025, the University of Miami is the second-largest employer in Miami-Dade County. The university's main campus in Coral Gables spans 240 acres (0.97 km), has over 5,700,000 square feet (530,000 m) of buildings, and is located 7 miles (11 km) southwest of downtown Miami, the heart of the nation's sixth-largest and world's 70th-largest metropolitan area. As of 2024, the university had annual research expenditures of $520 million, making it the 61st-largest university for research in the nation.
