Wilhelm Raabe

Wilhelm Raabe, born Wilhelm Karl Raabe on September 8, 1831, in Eschershausen, was a German writer, novelist, and painter. He was a citizen of the Duchy of Brunswick and wrote in German. Raabe began his work period in 1856 and occasionally used the pseudonym Jakob Corvinus. He received the Bavarian Maximilian Order for Science and Art.

He died on November 15, 1910, in Brunswick, where he is also buried. His notable works include *Raabenweisheit*, *Die Kinder von Finkenrode*, *Die schwarze galeere*, *geschichtliche erzăhlung*, *Nach dem grossen Kriege*, and *Der Dräumling*.
