==Toponymy== 'Wythop' is " 'withy valley', cf. 'wīðig', 'hop' " (from the Old English). 'Wīðig','withy' means 'willow', 'hop' means 'a small enclosed valley'; so 'Wythop' is the 'valley of willow trees'.
