Yijing

Yijing, also known by the family name Zhang and courtesy name Wenming, was a male Buddhist monk, translator, and writer who lived during the Tang dynasty. Born in 635, he practiced Buddhism and spent his life engaging in religious translation and literary composition. He died in Chang'an in 713.

His notable works include the *Yakushi Ryuko Kō Nyorai Hon’gan Kudoku Kyō*, the *Nankai Kiki Naiho Den*, and the *Datang Xiyu Qiufa Gengseng Zhuan*. He is also associated with the English title *A Record of the Buddhist Religion* and the *Gendai-go Yaku Nankai Kiki Naiho Den*. In total, he produced nineteen works.
