Zündapp

Zündapp (a.k.a. Zuendapp) was a major German motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1917 in Nuremberg by Fritz Neumeyer, together with the Friedrich Krupp AG and the machine tool manufacturer Thiel under the name "Zünder- und Apparatebau G.m.b.H." as a producer of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau is German for Igniter and Apparatus Building/Assembly). In 1919, as the demand for weapons parts declined after World War I, Neumeyer became the sole proprietor of the company, and two years later he diversified into the construction of motorcycles.

Zündapp (Цюндапп, сокращение от «Zünder und Apparatebau G.m.b.H») — немецкая компания, основанная Фрицем Ноймайером в Нюрнберге в 1917 году как производитель детонаторов и снарядов. В 1919 году, так как спрос на оружие после Первой мировой войны снизился, а Ноймайер стал единоличным владельцем компании, в Zündapp начали производить мотоциклы. Свою продукцию в годы Второй мировой войны поставлял Вермахту, как например — мотоцикл с коляской. После войны фирма стала также выпускать швейные машинки под названием Zündapp Elcona.Данные швейные машинки оказались настолько хороши, что их копии стал выпускать Советский Союз, под названиями «Волга», «Ржев» и «Тула». В 1958 году деятельность завода в Нюрнберге полностью перенесена на новый завод в Мюнхене. Компания обанкротилась в 1984 году, после чего её имущество было выкуплено правительством КНР за 16 млн западногерманских марок (≈8 млн евро), после чего полностью демонтировано китайскими рабочими и вывезено в китайский город Тяньцзинь, где вновь смонтировано, став основой мотоциклетной компании .
