Herbert Blumer (St.Louis, 7 de março de 1900 - Danville, 13 de abril de 1987) foi um sociólogo estadunidense cujos principais interesses acadêmicos foram o interacionismo simbólico e os métodos de pesquisa social. Acreditando que os indivíduos criam a realidade social por meio da ação coletiva e individual, ele foi um intérprete e defensor da psicologia social de George Herbert Mead. Blumer elaborou e desenvolveu esta linha de pensamento em uma série de artigos, muitos dos quais foram reunidos no livro Interacionismo Simbólico. Blumer argumentava que a criação da realidade social é um processo contínuo. Ele também foi um crítico ferrenho do método positivista em sociologia.
