Joseph Schillinger was a composer, music theorist, and composition teacher. He was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine (at that time, part of Russian Empire) and died in New York City. Schillinger collaborated with Léon Theremin, the inventor of an early electronic musical instrument, the Theremin. Schillinger wrote his First Airphonic Suite for Léon Theremin, who played the instrument at the premiere in 1929 with the Cleveland Orchestra, conducted by Nikolai Sokoloff. <a href="https://www.last.fm/music/Jo
