Stephen Alexander

Stephen Alexander (1806–1883) was an American astronomer, university teacher, and author. Born in Schenectady, he was educated at Union College and Princeton Theological Seminary. Alexander served as a faculty member at Princeton University and was a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society. He received the distinction of Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

His written works include *Moses and the Philosophers*, *A discourse on the days of creation*, and *The miracle of creation! or, the theory of evolution!*. Alexander also authored *The fallacies and follies of "Science, falsely so-called"* and a three-part work titled *Moses and the Philosophers*. He died in Princeton in 1883. His relative was Joseph Henry.
