One of the earliest and most successful massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) in history, Tibia is a two-dimensional tile-based game set in a fantasy world with pixel art graphics and a top-down perspective. There are currently 68 game servers online, of which 24 in Europe, 25 in North America, and 19 in South America.

Tibia is een van de oudste en langst bestaande massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG). Het spel is ontstaan als studieproject van drie Duitse studenten informatica in 1997. Vandaag de dag is dit team uitgebreid tot vier mensen: , , en Op dit moment zijn er ongeveer 40 werknemers in dienst van het bedrijf CipSoft GmbH, dat gevestigd is in Regensburg (Duitsland). Het spel is tweedimensionaal, heeft geen geluid en weinig effecten. Hierdoor is het voor mensen met een minder recente computer of zonder breedbandverbinding ook goed speelbaar. Het spel downloaden en spelen is gratis. Tegen betaling komen meer mogelijkheden beschikbaar. Dit heet een premium account en deze is te koop voor 1 maand, 3 maanden, 6 maanden en 12 maanden. Een premium account biedt nieuwe steden, nieuwe monsters (waaronder Demons), promotie en nog veel meer dingen.
